11/29/07: PATINS State Conference, Mikogo & Online Technical Video Tutorials

Posted by: danielgmcnulty | November 30, 2007 | 2 Comments |

The State Conference Podcast: As many of you know, I’ll be heading to Indianapolis Sunday afternoon for the 2007 PATINS State Conference which will begin Monday morning and finish up Tuesday afternoon. There are some truly outstanding presenters coming and I will be interviewing each of them for a 10-15 minute overview of their sessions. Each of these interviews will be turned into a State Conference Podcast and made available from the PATINS website.  This podcast will be available on our website for approx. 1 month. Go listen to it while you can!

MIKOGO: Mikogo is a FREE online meeting and sharing tool that was introduced to me a couple of weeks ago. Since then I’ve had a little time to play with it and I am really liking it! Just go to the website, download and install the free software and you’re ready to go. This tool would allow you to share your desktop view with me so that I can watch what you are doing or not doing if you might be having a particular problem with software. It would also allow me to share my desktop view with you in order to perform demonstrations and mini-trainings w/out either of us ever needing to travel anywhere! Ideally, I would like all of the NE Indiana region to have Mikogo installed on their computers so that it’s ready to go whenever a need would present itself. Go check it out!

Technical Video Tutorials: Technical video tutorials on specific pieces of software, hardware and general computer skills are coming soon to the PATINS Website HERE.

You might also want to take a look at the remaining national conferences this school year related to assistive technology. I’ll be presenting at TRLD, ATIA and CEC this year. See them all by pointing your browser here and scrolling down to the bottom: http://www.patinsproject.com/htm/trainop.html

Have a Great Weekend and hopefully, I’ll be seeing many of you at the STATE CONFERENCE Monday & Tuesday!

Hi Daniel,
My name is Andrew and I work for BeamYourScreen, the company behind Mikogo.
I just wanted to say that it’s great to hear that you’re enjoying using Mikogo. It’s a relatively new product, so we’re pleased to see people benefiting directly from our software.
Feel free to visit our website and forum, where you will find newly added information, such as the new video tutorials and user guide now on the homepage. These resources can help you in using and explaining Mikogo to your meeting participants when you’re conducting tutorials of your own.
We hope you continue to enjoy Mikogo.

Regards,
Andrew

Thank you for your comment and resources Andrew. We certainly are enjoying Mikogo and I think more and more teachers will continue to benefit from it in the future as familiarity and comfort levels with that sort of online meeting increases.
